1st Crop Hay
First Crop = 1st Crop 1st crop is the first cutting of hay of the year. The hay is cut as the seed heads start to mature which creates a feed supplement that typically produces course hay then second crop and has more seed heads than second crop. This 1st crop usually produces a feed supplement that has a higher stem to leaf ratio than 2nd crop. The benefits for this courser hay and more seed heads than 2nd crop is that 1st crop has a higher amount of fiber with lower amounts of proteins and fats. The courser hay provides a higher benefit to the teeth of small animals over 2nd crop by creating more resistance on animal’s teeth to help control constant growth of small animal’s teeth and molar problems.
2nd Crop Hay
2nd crop2nd Crop is the second cutting of hay for the year that produces shorter stemmed hay which is has a higher leaf to stem ratio than 1st crop. This shorter and leafier hay has less seed heads and is sweeter and tenderer than 1st crop. 2nd crop has less fiber than 1st crop, along with higher levels of protein and fats. The softer 2nd crop doesn’t maintain some animal’s teeth quality as well as the courser 1st crop. Many times 2nd crop will be preferred by small animals but will not be as beneficial to the digestive tract and teeth to small animals as 1st crop.
Decorative Hay
Decorative Hobby Hay is a blend of hay that doesn't meet our high standards for 1st or 2nd crop hays and is baled as a decoration hay. The hay is a high quality hay but isn't fresh enough or meet the premium hay standards for our feed hay and becomes decoration.
Decoration mini bales add to the atmosphere of agriculture and farm for any event.
The hay is safe and a quality hay for any animal to eat but doesn't meet Country Green Farm standards as premium hay.
